GAP ONE
SERVICES CLOSE AT 5 PM.
Most services for people experiencing homelessness close around 5 PM. Homelessness doesn’t. Neighbors still need help at 2 AM, on weekends, and in the rain.
FOR NEIGHBORS
Because support should not depend on the time of day.

FOR VOLUNTEERS
Because impact should not depend on where you live.

THE STORY
In 2019 we picked up cameras and started filming documentaries about homelessness. We weren’t sure where it would lead; we only knew these were stories that deserved to be heard. The young people we met gave us the name that stuck: BeHeard. On October 13, 2020, BeHeard Movement became official, a grassroots organization built on one belief: people experiencing homelessness deserve dignity, not just services.
For five years we kept showing up and sharing what we saw, one story at a time, and people listened. Our online community grew across platforms. The messages kept coming from all over the country: “I wish I lived in Oklahoma so I could volunteer.” Some people even flew across the country just to volunteer for a single day, and we were grateful for every one of them.
But most people who wanted to help simply didn’t live close enough, and volunteering, the way it has always worked, depends on being in the right place at the right time. We had a community that wanted to show up and no way for them to do it. At the same time, we kept running into a gap on the street: most services close around 5 PM, and the need doesn’t.
So we started asking a different question: what if volunteers could serve from anywhere in the world, and neighbors could get help any time they needed it? The answer became the BeSeen Machine, a smart locker with a screen, placed where help is hardest to find after 5 PM. A neighbor walks up, a live volunteer says hello from across the country, and a locker opens with what they need.
On October 2, 2026 we launched phase two, open every Friday from 10 AM to 10 PM. The BeSeen Foundation grew out of BeHeard Movement and we still collaborate with BeHeard. Every step has been shaped by neighbors.

THE MAIN THING TO KNOW
GAP ONE
Most services for people experiencing homelessness close around 5 PM. Homelessness doesn’t. Neighbors still need help at 2 AM, on weekends, and in the rain.
GAP TWO
People follow our work and want to volunteer, but most of our followers don’t live in Oklahoma. Distance and busy schedules get in the way, even though the need is always present.
The machine is the bridge: a live volunteer, anywhere in the world, answering a neighbor, anytime.
OCT 13, 2020
Oklahoma’s only mobile drop-in center, founded by Evan for unhoused neighbors. In some parts of the cities we serve, the nearest shower and shelter is a 4 to 5 hour walk. Mobile showers, laundry and case management can help bridge that.
2025
Evan was trying to figure out how people could volunteer virtually and how neighbors could get help after hours.
2025
In 2025, Evan and Justin sat down for a meeting where Evan shared a pretty crazy idea. Justin was immediately in. Soon, mockups began, ideas started taking shape, and the “what ifs” turned into something real. What started as an idea quickly became possible through partnership, collaboration, and a shared belief that outreach could look different.
NOV 2025
Out of more than 80 applicants, we won 1st place in the audience choice vote at the United Way Innovation Awards, which came with $15,000 to bring the BeSeen Machine to life.
MAY 15, 2026
Donors, volunteers, and close friends and family gathered to see the reveal of the machine, test it, and hear the why behind it.
OCT 2, 2026
We are officially testing the BeSeen Machine every Friday from 10 AM to 10 PM to get feedback from volunteers and the neighbors we serve.
MARCH 1, 2027
Volunteers everywhere serve. Neighbors everywhere receive.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MACHINE
That’s honestly how it started. A crazy idea, and then a crazy meeting between Evan and Justin.
